The 2025 Master Pool Builder (MPB) Showcase was a resounding success and spirits were high, despite Melbourne’s unpredictable weather.
Members gathered from across Australia for a day filled with inspiring conversations, fresh industry insights, and unforgettable poolside experiences that highlighted the creativity and passion of our members.
Learning and Leadership
The morning sessions set the tone for an inspiring day, with SPASA Chief Executive Officer, Kristin Brookfield, opening the Showcase and delivering an update on the direction of the association and the broader industry.
“Our Master Pool Builders Showcase was a fantastic event bringing together members from across states to share and learn about excellence in pool construction. The Showcase covered it all, industry updates, case studies and visiting pools under construction and completed. Members had the chance to network with their peers in a relaxed setting and hopefully take home some inspiration for their own business. The Master Pool Builder program offers our pool builder members a way to highlight their quality and professionalism to customers and I look forward to seeing the program grow in 2026.” said Kristin Brookfield, SPASA Chief Executive Officer
Attendees also heard from leading voices in the industry, including:
Cliff Cooke (Cooke Industries), who reflected on his 50-year journey in excellence and his experience with the Master Pool Guild.
Adam Martin and Kate Smith (Compass Pools Melbourne), on fibreglass innovation
An engaging Q&A session hosted by Peter Zukowski (PJ Pools and Spas) with panellists - Glen Maxton (Laguna Pools), Matt Seymour (Apex Pools & Spas) and Chris Jackson (Aquarius Pools), encouraged open conversation on innovation, design, and professional development which are all core values of the Master Pool Builder program.
Dean from Rogers Pools said “The showcase was collaborative and full of momentum, it’s beneficial for bringing people together and a real step in the right direction for our industry. Events like this strengthen the supportive network that makes our industry thrive.”
On the Road: Touring Master Builds
In the afternoon, the Showcase hit the road for an exclusive Bus Tour, giving attendees the opportunity to visit outstanding Master Pool Builder projects firsthand.
A huge thank you to our host Peter (PJ Pools and Spas) who led the tour to visit pools built by Andrew (Liquid Blue Pools), and Garry (Out From the Blue), with each visit showcased remarkable innovation and the creative excellence that defines our industry.
The tour provided an inspiring opportunity to exchange ideas, strengthen connections, and celebrate the collaboration and passion that continues to drive the Master Pool Builder community forward.
Hear what attendees had to say:
“The session was really good, being out on-site made it cracking. Talking to Cliff for the first time was great; 50 years in a successful business is truly inspirational. Even chatting with PJ and the other builders was valuable. I’d just love a bit more networking time earlier in the day to connect with the award winners and key guys.”
said Jeremy, H2O Pools
“I think the whole thing was probably one of the better ones I’ve been to. It’s more relevant to builders, practical, hands-on, and focused on the building side of things. Hearing from the award winners about their projects gave great insight you don’t get anywhere else. Definitely took a lot away and I’d be keen to go to more.”
said Matt Lord, Coastal Pools and Spas
Thank you to all speakers, attendees, and partners who made the MPB Showcase possible. A special acknowledgement goes to our Master Pool Builder partners, ABPhillips, Astral Pool and Pool Water Products, for their ongoing support of the program.
This year’s event highlighted the growing strength of our community and the shared commitment to elevating standards across Australia’s pool and spa industry. The Master Pool Builder program remains central to SPASA’s mission to foster excellence and connection within the profession.
Keep an eye out for the 2026 calendar of events, and if you’re not yet a Master Pool Builder, now is the perfect time to get involved.
