Key Pool and Spa Standards ready for review - Expression of Interest

September 24th, 2025

SPASA is proud to be leading the review of several key Australian Standards that directly impact the design and manufacture of swimming pools and spas.

Standards Australia has identified three key standards as ‘aged’, meaning they require revision by the Standards Committee, of which SPASA is a member.

  • AS 1926.3 - 2010: Swimming Pool Safety, Part 3: Water Recirculation Systems
Scope: This standard specifies requirements for skimmer boxes and other permanent water outlets in swimming pools and spas.

  • AS 2610.1 - 2007: Spa Pools, Part 1: Public Spas
Scope: This standard specifies requirements for the design, construction and operation of public spa pools intended for recreational use.

  • AS 2610.2 - 2007: Spa Pools, Part 2: Private Spas
Scope: This standard specifies requirements for the design, construction and operation of private spa pools intended for recreational use.

SPASA members are invited to share your expertise to help SPASA guide the changes and improvements to these three standards and support industry best practice design and manufacture.

How can you get involved?

If you would like to participate in helping SPASA with the review, please register your interest by emailing Ben Makepeace, SPASA Policy Manager before 3 October 2025 at ben@spasa.com.au.

Workshops will be scheduled once member interest and feedback have been collected.

Your input will ensure these standards are updated to remain practical, relevant, and aligned with best practice for the pool and spa industry.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us shape a safer, more compliant, and future-ready swimming pool and spa industry.
