SPASA is calling on dedicated industry professionals to help shape the future of sanitation product standards.
Following feedback from members, concerns have emerged regarding inconsistent output claims, unclear labelling, and product transparency. These discrepancies have the potential to impact consumer trust, product safety, and regulatory compliance.
As the industry’s peak body, SPASA is taking decisive action by establishing an Advisory Working Group to table the opportunity to develop standardised industry practices.
This group will play a critical role in improving the accuracy of chlorine output claims, enhancing labelling clarity, and setting a new benchmark for product transparency and consumer protection.
Key Focus Areas include:
Standardised Testing Methods
Validation of Claims
Promotion of Consumer Education
Consideration of Complementary Sanitation Systems
Broader considerations include:
Consistent scientific terminology
Origin and manufacturing claims
Compatibility declarations
Alignment with local and international standards
Impact on manufacturing costs and marketing
