Some things you should know before you enrol for training with SPASA.
ENROLMENT PROCESS
If you are interested in learning about our Start to Finish Enrolment Process please click here. This document covers all of the need to know information regarding our enrolment process. For further information see below or click here.
UNIQUE STUDENT IDENTIFIER
All students will require a Unique Student Identifier. If you do not already have a USI, you can create one online here.
STUDENT FACILITIES
For students who are unable to attend our training rooms, we offer flexible, self-paced distance learning options. However, SPASA has a dedicated, fully equipped training facility at our North Parramatta office which can cater for classes of up to 25 students. Our training room has:
- Full audio and visual capabilities
- Whiteboard
- Wi-fi internet access
- For hands-on training and practical assessment, our training facilities provide an extensive range of pool and spa equipment such as pumps and filters
- Access to the complete Australian Standards library
- Kitchen facilities including tea and coffee making.
YOUR TRAINERS AND ASSESSORS
SPASA trainers and assessors are highly skilled and experienced industry professionals and subject matter experts. As per the National Skills Standards Council (NSSC) requirements, SPASA Trainer and Assessors:
- have the necessary training and assessment competencies determined by the National Quality Council or its successors; and
- have the relevant vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered or assessed, and
- can demonstrate current industry skills directly relevant to the training / assessment being undertaken, and
- continue to develop their Vocational Education and Training (VET) knowledge and skills as well as their industry currency and trainer/ assessor competence.
- this includes a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment as a minimum and are all actively working within the Swimming Pool and Spa Industry as builders, service technicians and business owners.
STUDY MATERIALS
The majority of SPASA training is delivered off site, for you to study at your own pace. SPASA will supply learner guides (in PDF format) and additional learning resources, where required. Some of your training or assessment may require you to conduct additional research, usually online.
STUDENT HANDBOOK
Applicants to SPASA courses are provided with a Student Handbook. The purpose of the Student Handbook is to provide a quick reference to SPASA’s training policies and procedures, including the learners rights and responsibilities as a student. View the Student Handbook.
CREDIT AND RECOGNITION
Each qualification provides opportunity for flexibility in assessment pathways. These pathways can be tailored to the individual. For example, pathways may include RPL, training and assessment, credit transfer or a blend of these. Assessment tools are used to gather evidence about a student’s competence.
Regardless of the pathway and your personalised training and assessment plan, SPASA's assessment tools are developed in line with the requirements of the relevant Training Packages and the Australian Qualifications Framework.
For more information about Credit and Recognition, see the SPASA RPL and Credit Transfer Policy.
LANGUAGE LITERACY AND NUMERACY (LLN)
All students are expected to have medium to high language, literacy and numeracy skills to be able to complete SPASA’s training programs. This means the likelihood of a student with low language, literacy and numeracy skills being accepted onto the course, is extremely rare.
Ultimately it is the choice of the participant as to whether or not they proceed with the enrolment. In a situation where SPASA has advised against proceeding until LLN skills reach an appropriate level, SPASA will not be obliged to offer the student a refund or a credit toward participating in a training course at a later date.
For more information, please refer to SPASA Language, Literacy and Numeracy Policy.
PRIVACY POLICY
In the course of its training services, SPASA may collect information from students or persons seeking to enrol into a SPASA program, either electronically or in hard copy format, including information that personally identifies individual users. SPASA may also record various communications between individuals and SPASA.
SPASA will only collect information that is required for the purposes of administration of a student’s education, or in order to meet government reporting requirements.
